Kaba wins Security Innovation Award  

Essen, October 9, 2008 – At this year's Security Essen trade fair - a key event in the security sector's calendar - Kaba won a gold Security Innovation Award for its new identification technology 'RCID'. Thus, Kaba has once again underlined its role as a leader in innovation in the international security market.  

As part of the official opening ceremony at this year's Security Essen trade fair - the place to be in the security industry - a gold Security Innovation Award was bestowed upon Kaba for its new RCID identification technology. Rudolf Weber, CEO of the Kaba Group, accepted the trophy: 'this is a wonderful acknowledgement of our innovative achievement. I would like to congratulate the whole team on receiving this award.'  

Kaba won the award for its new identification technology RCID - Resistive Capacitive Identification: this is a world's first which enables a door, for instance, to be opened without using a key, but simply by touching the door handle. Provided, of course, you are authorized to open the door. The new system thus provides both security and convenience. The independent security experts on the jury recognized the major potential of the technology and predict a great future for it.  

This is the first year the Security Essen trade fair has conferred the Security Innovation Award, which has been introduced with a view to fostering innovation and creativity in the security industry. Over 70 companies submitted their products and solutions. A jury of experts from the security industry, public bodies and specialist publishing assessed the applications they received in terms of their innovative content, user benefit, reliability and cost-effectiveness. Kaba's new solution was compelling in every respect.
